Filing a Complaint
You may file a complaint against a real estate license holder with the Texas Real Estate Commission. The Commission has the authority to investigate complaints and take disciplinary action against licensees.
Texas law requires all real estate license holders to give the following information about brokerage services to prospective buyers, tenants, sellers, and landlords.
Types of Real Estate License Holders
- Broker: A broker is responsible for all brokerage activities, including acts performed by sales agents sponsored by the broker.
- Sales Agent: A sales agent must be sponsored by a broker and works with clients on behalf of the broker.
Types of Representation
- Seller's Agent: Represents the seller and owes fiduciary duties to the seller.
- Buyer's Agent: Represents the buyer and owes fiduciary duties to the buyer.
- Intermediary: Acts as a neutral party to facilitate a transaction when the broker represents both parties.
